Transformation and Harvest: Twelve JOBB Second-Cohort Students Successfully Graduate

Golden Autumn is Always a Season of Harvest

For the twelve students of JOBB’s second cohort, eight months of in-depth, hands-on baking training has finally reached its “fresh-out-of-the-oven” moment!
Congratulations — after months of “kneading” through training and “fermenting” through internships, you have finally crafted your own steaming-hot loaves of bread.

Tangible Results, Visible Growth

All students have completed their coursework and internships at partner enterprises.
All have participated in the national pastry chef certification exam administered by China’s Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security.
Among the Xinjiang students who stayed in Shanghai, the employment rate remains 100% — thanks to the solid foundation built at JOBB, they performed exceptionally well during their internships and were successfully retained by their host companies.

Holding two certificates in hand, the students now have a real, tangible connection to the “legendary” Shanghai.
Abdukuremu Mamut (nicknamed Xiao Ma), who stayed to work as a baker at Huma’s Zhongshan Park branch, smiled through the entire graduation ceremony — a striking contrast to the shy, quiet boy who first arrived.
Amir Abdurezak (Xiao Mi), now working at Huma’s West Bund branch, has also shed his initial reserve. Once soft-spoken, he now speaks with confidence and enthusiasm, eyes gleaming with assurance.
Shanghai has given this talented young Uyghur baker endless possibilities and dreams for the future.

The Journey of Transformation

At the graduation ceremony, two outstanding graduates shared their reflections — glimpses of the transformation they experienced through JOBB.

Amir Abdurezak (Xiao Mi)
“When I first came to JOBB, I felt clumsy and unsure of myself. But as the lessons went deeper, I gradually found joy and confidence in baking.”

  • Youngest student in JOBB’s second cohort

  • Now employed in Shanghai, responsible for desserts and product R&D at Huma West Bund branch

Xu Xinjia
From Pudong Special Education School

“Baking was a completely new field for me. Because I learned slowly, I knew I had to take every step seriously. When the lessons became more intense, I worried I couldn’t keep up with others — so I wrote down every step, reviewed and memorized them over and over again at home.”
“I’m grateful to JOBB for giving me the chance to start from zero, and thankful to my classmates for walking this journey together.”

Gratitude and New Beginnings

In this season of harvest, we also extend our heartfelt thanks to the JOBB project team — for their unwavering support in coordination, teaching, logistics, materials, communications, and outreach.
Cohort after cohort, this dedicated team has overcome countless challenges so that every student could understand: growth is never a solo act.

Dear students, JOBB is your starting point — may your passion continue to burn as you explore new horizons.
And remember, JOBB will always be your kitchen — our doors are open, and wherever life takes you, you’re always welcome back home.
