Skills for All, Education Without Barriers

JOBB Bakes the Fruits of Sino-French Friendship with Care and Education

At the beginning of the New Year, the JOBB Vocational Empowerment Program was honored to be invited to the Consulate General of France in Shanghai, where we shared a warm and memorable moment with the consulate team through the tasting of the traditional French delicacy, Galette des Rois (King Cake).
The festive classic pastries meticulously prepared by JOBB trainees received unanimous praise from all guests present.

Following tradition, an almond was hidden inside the cake in place of the customary porcelain figurine, symbolizing the passing on of good wishes for the New Year. This classic French pastry, which takes four days to complete, is delicately balanced in sweetness. The carefully hand-scored patterns on the surface not only reflect craftsmanship but also miraculously enhance the cake’s light and flaky texture.

“At JOBB, we believe in nurturing virtue through skills and guiding skills with values.”
What we teach is not only how to make French bread, but also an understanding of—and respect for—another culinary tradition and culture. Food is a language that needs no translation; it is a bridge that transcends cultural boundaries.

Trainees Xiaoru and Xiaoze took on key responsibilities during the event. Though slightly shy at first, they demonstrated professionalism and attentive service, reflecting the strong vocational discipline cultivated through their training at JOBB.

Special trainee Xu Wenyao delivered a speech on behalf of JOBB. With confidence and clarity, he shared his learning journey and described the baguette-making process in detail—from ingredient selection and formula ratios to baking procedures and oven temperature control. His impressive memory left a strong impression on the audience, though few knew the countless handwritten notes and daily practice behind it.
Now interning at the JOBB Café public-welfare bread corner, Xu proudly said, “My job is to introduce and promote French bread to everyone.”

Skills for all. Education without barriers.
Every young person who graduates from JOBB is becoming a practitioner and messenger of both French baking culture and an inclusive,公益-driven model.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Wang Du, Consul General of France in Shanghai, and the entire consulate team for their trust, support, and encouragement. JOBB will continue striving to serve as a window for Sino-French integration and a bridge for cultural exchange between China and France.

Let’s JOBB the future!
